Description
Weihenstephan’s 1516 Kellerbier is a specialty beer brewed with the rare hop variety called Hallertauer Record, a variety now only grown by a single hop farmer in the Hallertau hop cultivation region, in the southern German region of Bavaria. Covering an area of 178 km², Hallertau is the largest continuous hop-planting area in the world and Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan (Bavarian State Brewery of Weihenstephan) was founded on the site of Weihenstephan Abbey, the monastery brewery of the Benedictine monk.
